How to care for your new lawn?

Once your lawn has been laid you must avoid contact with the turf for the first 28 days, keep children and pets away from the area and only walk on the turf if absolutely necessary (adjustment of sprinkler systems). In the early stages of growth the turf is most vulnerable and can easily be damaged, within this period the turf is not yet established and disturbance can cause issues with the appearance of the turf and its growth.

It is important to keep your new lawn well watered. We recommend watering using a sprinkler system on an evening after sunset, allow the lawn to become saturated. A good indication as to whether the lawn has received sufficient water is to lift a corner of the turf and check the water has penetrated through into the topsoil. We recommend watering the turf until it is fully established.

Mow the lawn after 28 days have passed. In order to minimise disturbance we recommend using the highest setting on your lawn mower. At BP Turf all our turf is weed free and fertilised before it is harvested so no further treatment should be required for the first 12 month period.
We are the suppliers of award-winning turf to the Chelsea Flower Show and the Harrogate Spring Flower Show.
